A 12-week study was conducted to compare the effectiveness, safety, and tolerance of azelaic acid and glycolic acid against tretinoin 0.025% for treating severe facial acne vulgaris. Patients who received azelaic/glycolic acid showed a notable decrease in papules and inflammatory lesions compared to those who used tretinoin.
